Power of Attorney Accounts

Power of Attorney Accounts

A Power of Attorney is a legal document (the Power of Attorney document) which an individual (the account holder) may use to allow another individual (the attorney) to look after their financial and property matters. A Power of Attorney can be set up for an existing account or, a new account can be opened for someone (the donor) under a Power of Attorney.

The scope of an attorney’s powers will be set out in the Power of Attorney document and can include running the donor’s bank accounts and savings accounts, decisions about making or selling investments and selling property, and spending the donor’s money.
